DIY Christmas gift name tags

Christmas is coming! If you want to personalize gifts for your beloved ones, DIY wrappings are a thing to do. Also, I think that in the time of ubiquitous rush which takes place in most homes before Christmas making DIY items is extremely relaxing. Today I’ll focus on name tags that you can easily make yourself. Let’s get started!

I used a technique called quilling. For those of you who don’t know, quilling is an art that involves rolled, shaped and glued together paper strips.

You’ll need:

  • Thick paper for the base of your tags in any colour you wish
  • Paper strips of colours, length and width of your choice
  • Glue (the type that’s transparent when dried)
  • Anything else that comes to your mind and can be used to decorate the tags

Cut out the base for your tag in any shape that comes to your mind. I usually go for folded ones.

Paper strips can be bought online or in stationery stores and I recommend doing that – they’re neatly cut, all in the same size, and they’re very cheap as well. However, if you don’t want to or can’t buy them, simply take a sheet of paper, mark lines (use a ruler, they have to be straight) every 3-5 mm and cut them. Stripes available in stores are usually quite long, so go along the longer side of the sheet.

Now it’s time to roll the stripes. Depending on what type of paper you’re using, you might have to glue the outer end of the roll.

And… simply use your imagination! Shape the rolls, design a pattern and at the end glue them to the base of your tag. If you wish, decorate with anything you want πŸ™‚

  1. Very pretty. My youngest daughter and I are looking forward to making some of our Christmas decorations again this year. Now I’ve seen this post we might try our hand at this too – I love coming across crafts we haven’t tried yet but, as I’m the least creative one our family, easy always works well for me. Thanks for sharing this Alphe, and thanks for visiting me too πŸ™‚

    1. Hope you have a lovely time making your decorations! πŸ™‚ I find making such things very relaxing, and I believe it’s a great and creative way of spending time with kids as well, so much better than just sitting in front of a TV.
